Ideogram Vector 1.0: Editable SVGs and API Costs
Ideogram Vector 1.0 creates native SVG artwork from text and converts existing images into vector shapes. It is useful for logos, icons and illustrations you need to resize or recolor in a vector editor. Access is hosted through Ideogram and API providers; there are no downloadable model weights for a local GPU workflow.

What does Ideogram Vector 1.0 produce?
The output is SVG: editable vector geometry that can be resized without resampling a pixel grid. Ideogram presents examples for logos, print designs and illustrations. Choose this route when access to shapes and colors matters to the next stage of your design work.
A vector file still needs proofreading and layout review. Inspect lettering, overlaps and small details in your editor at the intended display or print size. Lettering drawn as paths needs shape editing or replacement rather than retyping; selectable geometry also does not establish a clean layer structure for the whole design.
Ideogram Vector 1.0 API prices per SVG
Ideogram’s direct API prices, checked October 23, 2026, depend on quality and whether generation uses references. Low and Medium have the same price with or without references. High increases from $0.20 to $0.32 per SVG when references are included. Direct image-to-vector conversion costs $0.10 per input image.
For 100 High-quality outputs, prompt-only generation costs $20; generation with references costs $32. Converting 100 existing images costs $10. These are direct API subtotals. Subscription credits and a provider’s own bill need their respective price lists.
| Direct Ideogram API | USD / SVG or conversion | 100 outputs |
|---|---|---|
| Low generation, with or without references | $0.13 | $13 |
| Medium generation, with or without references | $0.16 | $16 |
| High generation, prompt only | $0.20 | $20 |
| High generation, with references | $0.32 | $32 |
| Image-to-vector conversion | $0.10 | $10 |
Create and download your first SVG
On Ideogram’s model page, choose Create a vector for a new design or Vectorize an image for conversion. For generation, describe the subject, style, palette and exact words. After the task finishes, download the SVG and open it in your vector editor. Select individual shapes and change a color to check the editing step your project needs.
For a direct API integration, use your Ideogram API key with the generate endpoint below. It accepts a prompt and optional references. The initial response contains a generation_id; use the result retrieval flow in the documentation to obtain the completed file rather than treating that ID as the SVG itself.
curl -X POST https://api.ideogram.ai/v2/svg/generate/ideogram-vector-1 \
-H "Api-Key: $IDEOGRAM_API_KEY" \
-F 'prompt=A flat two-color logo for a bicycle repair shop, a bicycle wheel inside a green circle, no lettering'Convert an image or use it as a reference
Direct conversion uses /v2/svg/vectorize/ideogram-vector-1 and an existing image without a prompt. Generation with references uses /v2/svg/generate/ideogram-vector-1 to make a new design. Pick the operation before estimating cost, especially at High quality where referenced generation has a different fee.
The Vectorizer API exposes a group option, defaulting to false, but its documentation says grouping shapes into layers is not yet available. Plan to organize the returned shapes in your editor when you need named object groups or a reusable layer hierarchy.
What a provider’s SVG examples show
The Flixly team published first-result examples on October 22 using its Ideogram Vector integration. Its Medium-quality logo has 18 paths and lettering drawn as shapes. A High-quality nine-weather-icon request merged rain and snow in two icons. For one bicycle conversion, Detailed produced 282 paths and 120 KB; Simple shapes produced 163 paths and 55 KB.
These are a provider’s own examples, not an independent comparison. They illustrate two practical checks: outlined lettering needs shape editing rather than retyping, and simpler conversion can reduce the work needed to recolor or select parts. Inspect your delivered SVG for those properties before committing it to a design system.
Budget for accepted vector assets
A project budget includes rejected generations and editing time. For example, 100 prompt-only High outputs cost $20 at the direct rate. If 25 make the final set, generation spend is $0.80 per accepted asset. Reference-guided High generation would make those same 100 attempts $32, or $1.28 per accepted asset at the same acceptance count.
Compare that total with the time needed to redraw or trace the source manually. Detailed illustration may produce many paths; a small icon or cut shape may be easier to maintain with fewer. Count the actual assets you can deliver after cleanup, rather than treating every generated SVG as finished work.
Use the image calculator to compare other downloadable image models when local generation is relevant. Ideogram Vector uses hosted per-output pricing, so it has no matching self-hosted GPU profile in that calculator.
Before you use it
- Editable shapes can include outlined lettering; check whether your workflow needs live text.
- Generation with references and direct image conversion are different operations with different billing.
How to get started
Choose generation or conversion, start with one design and open the downloaded SVG in your editor before budgeting a larger set.
